The Pleasure Principle (1987)

Janet's "The Pleasure Principle" is the sixth and final single from Control in the United States. Unlike the success of the first five singles from the album, the song peaked at #14 in the Billboard Hot 100. However, the song peaked at #1 in both the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play and and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. For the official single, Shep Pettibone remixes were commissioned for the release.

The music video was directed by Dominic Sena, and features Janet ina solo dance performance in a loft. It was nominated for Best Female Video and Best Choreography at the 1988 MTV Video Music Awards, winning the latter. In 2001, Mýa paid tribute to Janet in the first ever MTV Icon.
